Barbel and Chub fishing at Temeside Cottage on the beautiful River Teme at Powick

Home About Me The Cottage The Fishery Guiding Gallery Links

The fishery is on the Lower Stretch of the River Teme at Powick. The Teme is a beautiful and intimate river-stuffed with large barbel and chub. The Teme is one of the most prolific barbel rivers in the country and the Cottage being only half a mile from the confluence with the Severn has an artifically high population in the summer and autumn. This is because a lot of Severn fish migrate up to spawn and then spend the warmer months in the gravel shallows under the abundent overhanging cover. After the floods of late autumn, a lot of fish drop back into the Severn where the flow is more sedate and to their liking.

There are 7 swims in the garden and all have produced double figure barbel. The fish fall to a variety of methods and the river can run clear and it is possible to watch their reactions to bait and stalk individual fish.
